This website is the online version of the traveling multi-media exhibition “Ságastallamin – Telling the story of Arctic Indigenous languages” designed in 2019.

This exhibition was designed by UiT – The Arctic University of Norway Library and the Arctic Council Indigenous Peoples’ Secretariat in 2019.

The physical exhibition was open at the University Library in Tromsø, Norway from September 16 to November 1 2019. It has since visited Rovaniemi, Finland and Harstad, Norway. It will also be on display at the Fram Centre in Tromsø, Norway from January 13 to March 1 2020. We hope that the exhibition will continue to travel to other locations in Norway and abroad during 2020.

  • Nine original video interviews with Indigenous language speakers about why their languages are so important to them
  • A computer program where you can listen to phrases in nine of the Sámi languages
